Though the first atmospheric moments start as a dark meditations on what awaits (giving chills), wonder soon takes its place. A brilliant and almost whimsical episode, after the grim start and unfortunate pickpocketing. I really enjoyed the wonder contained in this chapter. I almost forgot the darkness at the start. It opened up the world in such a brilliant and lively way.

The mystery of Cassio's work is encouraging in such a fading world which has seen the work of the Astronomers dwindle to apparent "pointlessness". However, these things appear to be wonders due to their incomprehensible nature. I feel that very few, if any, will ever learn of the nature of the things described in passing.

The glass maker's own knowledge is of a kind seemingly limited among men to a particular few. This is seen in that, the learned Astronomers do not, apparently, know of his process. Again, a youthful curiosity is felt for a world that impresed ,at first, a dark shadowy aura, drawing a grim curiosity of what lays in such a decayed realm. The vigor of life is felt in an very old and strange character! A great irony, but beautiful and encouraging.

My long ramble of my silly reading is just my feeble attempt at thanking and praising you (Isaac Young) for the enjoyment I have experienced. Keep it up. Maybe, one day, I will catch up fully.

Mournfully "past" the empty vessels.
